Our classes are typically broken into the following five stages.
1) RETENTION
The first 5 – 10 minutes are spent checking if each student recalls and still understands the material from the previous week’s class.
This is of particular importance if the material of the current class directly relies on a deep understanding of the material from the previous class.
2) NEW CONCEPTS
The teacher then introduces and explains the new concept(s).
Throughout this stage, the teacher will be frequently checking each student’s understanding by asking them questions.
3) INTRODUCTORY ASSESSMENT
The teacher & students will then go through some questions together.
The teacher will ask one student how to do the first step of a question, then another how to do the next step etc.
4) INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENT
The students will then go through some questions by themselves.
The teacher will continuously ask students how they are getting on and will encourage them to ask for help if they get stuck.
5) REFLECTION
In the last five minutes, the class as a whole will discuss whether they feel if this topic has “clicked” and whether they feel confident in moving on to a different topic in the next class or not.
The teacher will then make recommendations on which of our included practice questions to attempt before the next class.
Students will also be reminded that, if they get stuck attempting any of these questions, they can ask for immediate video support each school day while that issue is fresh in their mind rather than waiting until the next class.
This structure is very flexible and may differ in certain classes depending on the material that is being discussed.

Yes! All of our live classes will be recorded and can be rewatched on-demand until the end of the school year (30th June).
Absolutely not!
We limit our classes to a maximum of 8 students as there is a large focus on students asking and answering questions throughout the class.
Not at all!
We understand that some students may feel uncomfortable showing their face in an online setting.
In contrast, a microphone is necessary as students will be expected to ask and answer questions.

The video support can be thought of as “byte-sized” one-to-one grinds.
If a student is at home studying and confused about a specific question, they can hop on to Google Meet and have a one-to-one discussion with Mr. Kenny (for up to five minutes per day, every school day), get that question answered while it’s fresh in their mind and then return to their study.
If a student is instead struggling with a topic in general, we instead recommend booking a full one-to-one grind or joining our weekly classes.
Absolutely!
Of course, to maximise the benefits of our sparks, we recommend signing up as early as possible.
The sooner, the better!
